Spring has Sprung

Wow!  I didn't realize how long it has been since I last blogged.  Needless to say life has been full and busy.  We have been blessed with good health this winter and are looking forward to the end of flu season when we can get back involved at church, on play grounds and the general population.

Finally, today, it was a beautiful spring day!  We, like all of you, are tired of winter, gray days and cold!  So what better way to celebrate spring than to spend the morning at the ball park.  Jax had assessments today for his first ever baseball season.  I am looking forward to being the mom with the funny tan lines from wearing shorts and t-shirts and sitting at the ball park for 87 hours a week.  Jax is super excited and seems to have a little talent.  Here's a recap of the morning in pictures.

First they timed Jax running to second base.  He started walking really well in January of 2008.  He started running in February 2008 and hasn't stopped yet.  Just call him Forest Gump...he is runnin'

Next they had to catch ground balls. Piece of cake!

Next they had to catch pop up balls.  Caught every one!

He had to throw at a tire hanging on the fence.  We will be practicing that a little in the coming weeks.

Next was batting assessments. He got some high pitches, but still managed to hit a few.

Last they had T-Ball hitting assessments.  Jax hit over 54 feet.  It was the longest hit of the day!
We took Hoss' walker and he got lots of practice!  He loves the independence and the conversation with Gig Guy.
 Cruisin'

After baseball we went to eat some mexican food then home for a nap!  After a little rest, we headed out to GrNanny and Gig Guy's front yard for our annual pictures in the jonquils.

Jax is a pro at this since it's his sixth time to pose amongst the jonquils.

I can always count on getting a great picture or two of him by himself.

And several silly ones...

Then we added little brother.  He is not big on cooperation.  At All.

So I snap 9 gazillion pictures in hopes of getting one like this.

Or this

We contemplated this crazy weather we have had.

Tried a creative pose.

And finally released Bubba to go run wild for a few minutes while I tried to catch some cute solo pictures of little man.

Daddy got in on trying to get Hoss to smile.  Too bad he wasn't looking at the camera while he was clapping and cheering on his Daddy's silliness.

Hoss explored the jonquils.  He was blowing instead of smelling, but he'll figure that out.

Finally a smile that is mostly facing the camera!

Two in a row!

Such a happy little boy!

The sun was beginning to get near the edge of the ridge, so we moved to the front island to get some shadier pictures.

We found our pockets!

This might be my favorite solo Hoss picture.

We tried to get a picture on the front porch with Gig Guy, but the sun was in their eyes and they were over taking pictures by this point.

So we went for some with GrNanny on the golf cart.

As we were headed back to the driveway, we heard one of Jax's favorite sounds of the summer...The Ice Cream Truck!  Not much better than a push pop on the tailgate!

If the spring and summer are half as much fun as today, it's going to be a great spring and summer!  Busy, but GREAT!
